Subject: Location of Schooley's Mountain
Date: Thu, 11 Jun 1998 15:19:54 EDT
Greetings,
Can anyone tell me which county Schooley's Mt. is in? Is it a chain of
mountains or is it one mountain. On my map it appears it is on the boundary
between Morris Co. and Hunterdon Co. The ancestors I am looking for are a
John HOUGH, who supposedly settled in the Schooley's Mt. area around 1740, his
son, John HOUGH, Jr., born around 1740 and his wife Elizabeth HUNT HOUGH, born
around 1750.
I realize that Morris Co. was formed from Hunterdon Co. but thought it would
be good to know which present day county the area is located in! I will be in
NJ next month and any tips on how to search for information more than two
hundred years old in Hunterdon Co. would be greatly, greatly appreciated!
Thank you so much and regards to you from a partly sunny Austin, TX,
Marilyn Hough Stern
