According to the Eighth Edition of the Handy Book for Genealogists, Published
by Everton Publishers:
Hunterdon county was formed in 1714 from Burlington county. The county clerk
has marriage records from 1795 - 1875, civil court records from 1714, deeds
and mortgages from 1716.
Mercer county was formed in 1838 from Somerset, Middlesex, Hunterdon, and
Burlington counties. County clerk has civil court records from 1838.
Hope this helps.
