Subject: Col John Taylor(1760-?) Hunterdon & Steuben Co., NY

I'm looking for information on a Col (possibly Gen) John Taylor who married
Lydia Carr and who served in the Revolution in a regiment(unknown which)
from Hunterdon. Shortly after the war he guaranteed a loan for someone who
defaulted and ended up spending time in debtor's prison and losing much of
his fortune. After his release he moved from the Hunterdon area to Steuben
Co., NY. What I'd like to figure out is where I might find records of the
court proceedings which resulted in his jailing. I don't have the exact
year but it would have been within 10 years of the end of the war. Any
suggestions on where I would go to find them?
