Hi all
I'm new to this list and am researching the surnames RINEHART, VANATTA and
SLATER in Hunterdon (and Warren) counties.
My gg-grandparents:
William W. Rinehart, b. 27 Dec 1833, d. 29 Dec 1910, a farmer/teacher
Sarah Vanatta, b. 24 Nov 1840, d. 16 May 1924
According to the print out from the marriage return from the New Jersey
State Archives they were married 12 March 1859 in Lebanon, Hunterdon Co., NJ
by Adam Rinehart, Justice of the Peace. According to Marriage
Records-Hunterdon County 1795-1875 Vol. I. (and information from my
grandmother) they were married 2 February 1859. Where can I find out which
is their actual marriage date?
In the 1850 census for Lebanon Township, Hunterdon Co. I have found two Adam
Rhineharts (Rinehart), one age 23 and one age 57.
Where would I find which one (or either) was a Justice of the Peace in
1859??
The two Adams in 1850
Adam Rhinehart, age 23 (b. about 1827)
Margarett, age 20 (b. abt 1830)
Mary, age 9/12 (b abt Nov 1849)
Adam Rhinehart, age 57 (b. abt 1793) living next to Henry Slator (Slater)
Mary, age 46 (b. abt 1804)
William, age 16 (b. abt 1834) - a cousin of my William ?
also living with Adam and Mary Rhinehart
Catherine Smith, age 18 (b. abt 1832 in NJ)
John Hipp, age 62 (b. abt 1783 in NJ) listed as insane
I think John may have been Mary's father. I have found a marriage record for
an Adam Rinehart and Mary Hipp that were married 27 June 1822 in Hunterdon
County.
Thanks so much for any help you can provide.
