A couple of thoughts regarding information below:
I think the death date of September 18 1817 for Alexander Baird may be a
misinterpretation of the burial record of his wife Elizabeth Ellis. I read
her burial record to give her death date as September 18 1817, and that she
married a Van Cleef after Alexander died which, according to the Intestate was
before July 2 1764. What do you think?
Also, William Baird who married Margaret O'Hara October 14 1751, seems to me
could have been son of either William who married Elsje Van Cleef or of
Alexander and Elizabeth Ellis. Any clues?

Here are odds and ends I found:
Liber 12:16 July 2 1764 Inventory of estate of Alexander Baird of Somerset
County NJ, Intestate. Administrator William Baird. Inventory mady by Henry
Cruser.
[I take this William to be father of first Elizabeth born 1735. Henry is her
husband.]
Liber 20:234 October 22 1777 Probated April 21 1778 Will of Peter Vendeveer of
Somerset County NJ. Witnessed by Henry Cruser. Inventory by William Baird
January 20 1778. Second Inventory by John Baird March 27 1778.
[Two entries together probably bring John, first Elizabeth and Alexander into
the same family of William Baird who married Elsje Van Cleef.]
Liber E:113 September 26 1747 Probated November 12 1747 Will of Benjamin Van
Cleave of Freehold, Monmouth County NJ. Names daughter Alse (wife of William
Beard).
Burials at Harlingen Cemetery, Belle Mead NJ (I have only the first page of a
really bad copy of an article from I don't know where, so caution for errors
and don't bother asking for the cross-references).
Elizabeth Van Cleefe, formerly the wife of Alexander Baird, died September 18
1817
Elsey Baird. See Abraham Van Arsdale.
Elizabeth Baird. See Henry Brokaw.
Rebecca Baird. See Peter A. Voorhees.
William Baird born May 2 1810 died December 3 1882; wife Harriet Voorhees died
June 29 1873.
New Jersey Marriage Licenses:
Baird, John, Somerset and Catharine Deboise March 6 1779
Baird, William, Somerset and Margaret O'Harah, Somerset, October 14 1751
Baird, Eleanor and Abraham Voorhees, Somerset August 14 1779
Baird, Phebe and John Hoagland, Somerset July 15 1780
Beard, Elizabeth and Henry Brokaw, Somerset November 4 1782
And that's every single thing I have on Bairds. If you see anything else
logical in all this or come up with connections, please let me know. Good
luck, Doris Lane
