Subject: [NJHUNTER-L] William Rushing/Rusling?

My great-grandfather, William R. Smith, was born in Clinton Township
about 1866. In the 1870 census, his first and middle name are given and
look to be something like William Rushing or Rusling.
I see from Chambers "Early Germans...." p. 176 there was a Rusling family
in the area in the early 1800's but I didn't see anyone of this name in
the index for the 1850 census.
Would anyone recognize this name and know who, if anyone, William R. was
named for?
