Loretta:

My daughter is a librarian and tells me that there is a 4 volume "History
of the Silverthorns" in the State of Michigan Library. She brought me a
dozen or so copies of pages but said that there was so much information in
them that I need to come over to the library myself and look it over. Do
you have this information? If not, I will send you photocopies of what I
find. The pages I have show as follows:

Oliver Silverthorn b. in England about 1680. Migrated to America about
1700. Settled near Bethlehem, Hunterdon Co, NJ before 1715. Died 1746.
Wife's name, Mary.

Sons:
Oliver Silverthorn, Jr. - d. 1783

John Silverthorn - returned to England

Thomas Silverthorn - of Harwick twp, Sussex Co, NJ; joined Royal Standard
(loyalists) in 1776; his plantation confiscated and sold by State of NJ
1782-3. Was U.E. (United Empire) in 1786. Died in the "Hungry Year" of
1788 in Canada. m. Johanna Newman. She is buried in Dixie, Ontario.

George Silverthorn - settled in Northumberland Co, PA

William Silverthorn 1725-1795 of Hunterdon Co, NJ. m. (1) - - - - - - (2)
Mary Young
(possibly the maternal grandfather of my William Silverthorn Young)

Since much of the family fled to Canada during the Revolution, there is a
very large number of Silverthorns in Ontario. I wondered why we didn't
find more of them in NJ.
Let me know if you would like more information OR if you have information
to share.
