I don't know that the genealogy is still in print; they have it in
Flemington and they have it in NEHGS in Boston, and probably in the LDS
library. It's called, as I recall, the Opdyck Genealogy :-)
The information I gleaned from the Hunterdon Co. Historical Society library
in Flemington about the Hummer line has Adam Hummer coming probably from
Oberhumrich, Parish of Honnefeld, Neuweid Duchy (Lower Palatinate), German,
and probably emigrating ca 1726 to Philadelphia with his brother Harberet.
He was naturalized 8 July 1730 with Harbert (a simple list, no details of
any kind), and was living in Lebanon, Hunterdon Co. in 1741, and later was
in Amwell with 150 acres. My sources were his will No. 1345J, Deed Book 54,
p. 92, Will No. 1852J, and inquest on the death of Court Hummer in the NJ
Archives and the Act of the General Assembly of NJ, taken from "The
Jerseyman", Vol. 2, No. 1, page 1 (for the naturalization list). There is
also a good article in the Hunterdon Historical Newsletter, Vol. 11, No. 3,
Fall of 1975 all about "Early Settlers of Hunterdon Co., The Hummer Family",
published by the Hunterdon Co. Historical Society.
Adam Hummer according to his will had the following children:
Court, m. Anna Maria CASE, widow of Johannis YAWGER, d. June 1786
Adam, m-1 Lenah--, m-2 Eva Hummer KUHL, dr. Harbert (Adam's probable
brother), widow of Philip KUHL/COOL
Harbert, m. Catherine--
Elizabeth, m. Francis BESSON
Else, m. John CASE
Hope this helps,
Mary
