Mary Stewart and NJ Hunterdon List:
I am researching Wyckoff and Haumer(Hummer?, Hamar?). I have the line
noted below:
|--John Wyckoff(1767[Reading, Hunterdon, NJ]-1842[Ill])
|
|--Ambrose Spenser Wyckoff(1806[Schoharie Co, NY-1872)
| | |--John Barkley(1742-1792(Somerset Co,
NJ)
| |--Jane Barkley(1770[Somerset Co, NJ]-1857[Ill])
| |--Mary Brown(1746-1832(Somerset Co, NJ)
-John James Wyckoff(1832[Schoharie Co, NY-1898[Macoupin Co,
Ill)
-Haumer Wyckoff(1834-1851)
(brothers)
|--Elizabeth Ann Haumer(Hummer?, Hamar))(18 Nov 1807-15 Mar
1837)
The reference to the above info regarding Elizabeth Ann Haumer with
birth
date and marriage to Amborse Spenser Wyckoff on 9 Nov 1831 is "The
Wyckoff
Family in America", 1983--but, as is usual, there are no references
there.
I suspect that Ambrose Spenser Wyckoff married Elizabeth Ann Haumer in
New
York, but I have not found any Haumer's anywhere else in America! I
thought
perhaps that since there were many Hummer's in Hunterdon Co, where
Ambrose
Wyckoff's ancestors resided, and since Adam Hummer and Sarah Wyckoff
were
married in Hunterdon Co, Aug 11, 1805, that there may be a family link
here
[I realize that this is like searching for a needle in a hay stack, but
after 6 years of finding absolutely nothing, I need to pursue "creative"
ideas--please bear with me, thanks].
I had once thought that Adam Hummer and Sarah Wyckoff(married in
Hunterdon Co, Aug 11, 1805) were the parents of Elizabeth Ann above who
is mentioned in The Wyckoff Family in America book as "Haumer". Since I
have not found a single "Haumer" name anywhere and since there are many
"Hummers" in Hunterdon County, I felt that this was a reasonable premise
to at least pursue. However, this Elizabeth is documented as married to
someone else.
Are you or anyone on the list aware of the Haumer name, or is Elizabeth
Haumer actually a Hummer. Thank you.
