Hi Muffy,

John Besson was b. 2 Feb 1773, and marr. 10 Aug 1795 Rachel Trout. He d. 2
Feb 1838 in Alexandria Twp, NJ.

What I gave you below is WRONG!!! W * R * O * N * G -- don't know what I
was thinking of. Serves me right for sending without verifying. John
Besson who marr. Rachel Trout was the son of John Besson and Margaret
Opdyck. The older John was b. 17 April 1750. He was an ensign, and d. 24
July 1842.

The OLDER John Besson's father was Francis Besson, whom I have always
assumed was a French Huguenot, but there is a body of opinion that he was
from Germany. This may be based on the fact that his wife, Elizabeth
HUMMER, was. Francis Besson was living in Hunterdon Co. in 1754, and d.
June 1798 in Amwell, NJ.
