Subject: [NJHUNTER-L] John TAYLOR-1760-1800's in Trenton

Just a couple of questions to throw out to the list....
1. I'm researching a John TAYLOR (b. 1760) who lived in Trenton(?) and
served as a Colonel for the good guys during the Revolution. Supposedly,
after the war he guaranteed a loan for someone who defaulted on the loan.
Taylor ended up in debtor's prison and lost much of his belongings.
Shortly afterwards he left Hunterdon Co. to go to Steuben Co. NY. I've
just ordered up the LDS film which has an index of late 1700/early 1800
court proceedings. Does anyone know if the party who guaranteed a
loan(Taylor) would be included in this listing or if it would only contain
the name of the person who defaulted on the loan(whose name I don't know)?
2. One of Colonel Taylor's children (George Washington Taylor b. 1784) was
supposedly baptized in the First Presbyterian Church of Trenton. The
godfather was allegedly General Washington...an item which is supposed to
be a 'matter of record' in the church records. I've checked the published
histories of the First Presbyterian Church but I don't find any mention of
this baptism. Anyone have a thought on where else I maybe should look?
...Thanks much for any help...
....Mary
