Subject: [NJHUNTER-L] COOLBAUGH/SNOOK/MARTS
Date: Sat, 2 Jan 1999 14:26:51 EST
Hi Hunterdon Co. Researchers: Still searching for the identity of Hannah
COOLBAUGH who married in Hunterdon Co., 20 Jul 1781, John SNOOK, Jr.
John Snook, Jr., is believed to be the son of John Snook who d NJ, 1794, and
the grandson of William Snook, in Hunterdon Co., by 1744. William Snook's
will was written Amwell, Hunterdon Co., 6 May 1760, pro. 18 Jun 1760.
John Snook the elder, married NJ, 1779, (prob. second wife), Elizabeth MARTS,
widow of John MARTS, and mother of William MARTS of Hunterdon Co.
Published genealogies concerning the COOLBAUGH families appear to have major
errors and are no help in determining who this Hannah's family might have
been.
John and Hannah (Coolbaugh) Snook migrated from Hunterdon Co., NJ, to Warren
Co., OH, by 1803. John d OH, intestate, 1808; Hannah d OH, intestate, 1835.
Their children were: William, Elizabeth, John March, Charlotte, Alice, Marts,
Nancy/Anna, Joab, and Johnston/Johnson.
I believe William MARTS and family also migrated later to Warren Co., OH.
Suggestions appreciated. Thanks, Judy Tooman Colorado Springs, CO
