Hi Bill,
Bergen, on pp343-4 of "Early Settlers of Kings County, Long Island,
NY" states:
"There was a Frederick Van Liew of Ja[maica], L.I., who emigrated from
Utrecht and had 9 children, many of whose descendants are found in
Somerset Co., N.j., and whose s. Hendrick, bpt Oct 14, 1683, m. 1st,
Apl 18, 1713, Geertje Cortelyou of N. U. (at which place he probably
at one period resided), m. 2d Marya ____, and had a s. Jeurien (by 2d
2.) bp. Aug 26, 1721, in N.U."

Although the above doesn't specifically answer your question it does
provide possible clues for further research...especially since only
one of "9" children is mentioned above.

Bergen does identify your Helena on p93:
Helena, b. 1700, m. Mar 9, 1717, Frederick Van Leeuwen or Liew of
Ja[maica], who settled at Three Mile Run, NJ, d. Mar 6, 1784.
She is identified as d/o Denyse or Dionys Tuenessen & his second wife
(m. 12 Aug 1685), Helena, d/o Jacques Corteyou and wid. of Claes or
Nichs Van Brunt of N.U.
It is also noted that Denyse T. bought lands at Millstone, NJ in 1701,
was assessed on 80 A. in N.U. in 1706 & d. prior to 1707. He was bpt
16 Apr 1654, N.A.; was a master carpenter & bought land in 1687 at
Flatbush. Other land purchases mentioned.

Above Denyse/Dionys was s/o the immigrant Teunis (Nyssen), here "as
early as 1638 from Binninck or Bunnik in the province of Utrecht,
residing first in N.A. and on a farm on Manhattan I. He m. Phebea
Felix of England, known as Femmetje Jans, wid. of Hendrick the Boor
and da. of Jan Seales of N.A."

That should help!
Laurie
