In 1720 Hunterdon County records Hanover is mentioned as "Whippenng"
(Whippanong). The area it included was southern Morris County
(approximately). Morris County was formed from Hunterdon Cty in 1739 and
included present day Warren and Sussex Counties. This info is from "The
Story of New Jersey's Civil Boundaries 1606-1968" by John Snyder. The book
is available from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection for
$15.00. It is a hard cover book of 294 pages and can be order by mail. The
