Hello List Members,

Today there was mention of DeRemer, and Compton's being in Hunterdon
County.I hope that someone can make a connection to information that I
recently found in the Somerset County Historical Soc.

While researching my CAIN ancestors that came from Hunterdon County and
Somerset County I found a connection to a Compton and Castner
Burying Ground. It is located between my husbands' g-grandfathers
Farm and that of a Miller Farm in Bridgewater Twp.,Somerset Co.,NJ.

The DODY Farm was standing during the Am Rev and was bought by
Joseph Cain and his wife Mary Sayre Cain in 1852.It remained in the CAIN
family until sold by the Baptist Church of Somerville,NJ in
1938 when it was left to them in the Will of Susan Adalaide CAIN
the youngest child and unmarried when she died in 1935/6.
Buried in the Cemetery:
Eliza CAIN,B.1800,d/o Joseph and Margaret Perrine CAIN (sister of
Joseph Cain)married Bryan Remer. Also I found letters that explained
about some connections between these families.Mary E.Kershaw was the
wife of George W.Remer.

Bryan Remer,b.5/4/1795;d.4/4/1871 hus. of Eliza Cain
Remer ,George W.,(1830-1903)Husband of Mary E.Kershaw and s/o Bryan
Remer and Eliza Cain.

Remer Catherine,d.3/7/1848,age 83 years,8 mo,10,days.w.of John Castner
(John Castner d.10/6/1815,age 53 yrs.7 months.Husb of Catherine
Remer, who was sister to Joseph Comptons' wife Sarah

Additional names in this Cemetery are CAMPBELL,Wycoff,Runyon,Hodge,
Denhoff,Dody,Hall,Miller,Todd.

If you need to have any of this info I will make copies and send to you.

Up to this point in time I have been unable to locate this Cemetery.
I will have to go to Somerset County and search through Tax records and
such,No one in Bridgewater or Somerset Co offices know where it is
located.

I would like to hear form anyone with even a possibe link to
these names and hope someone may know the location of the Compton
Castner Burying Ground.

Does anyone have information on the surname CAIN from Hunterdon Co.
Looking for Joseph CAIN,b.mid 1700's who served in the Rev War
in Capt.Harkers Reg from Sussex Co,NJ.He married Margaret Perrine
1790 in Bound Brook area. She is buried in the Old Persbyterain
Cemetery Bound Brook (1858)Can not find Joseph Cain or where he is
