I hope someone can help me learn the names and dates of the parents of my
ggggrandfather, Jacob R.Compton, born 1760 in Hunterdon County and died
1821 in Colerain, Ohio. His wife was Orriminah Hyde Compton. They left NJ
in 1794 with 200 others through Shenendoah Valley, over the Cumberlandl to
the Ohio River. Jacob served in Quick's company in the War. They were
strong Bapttists.

If I can locate their NJ farm land, I may be able to connect them with the
Monmouth Comptons who bought land on Sourland Mt.

Which probate, tax or other records might help me solve this puzzler?
