Hi John and Patricia
The records of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oldwick (New
Germantown) NJ are written in old German and have been translated by
various individuals and have been published.
Birth and Baptismal Records were translated by Ben. van D. Fisher, and
were published in the New York Genealogical & Biographical Record from
1900 through 1903.
Marriage Records from 1770 to 1843 were translated by Norman C. Wittwar
and Donald A. Sinclair.
Death Records from 1771 to 1803 were translated by Donald A. Sinclair
and Fred Sisser III.
I believe the above translated Marriage and Death records were published
in the Journals of the New Jersey Genealogical Society but I have no
further information on this. Perhaps other readers know more about
this, and can inform us how to access these records from afar.
My research involves a "Loyalist" family of HOTRUM/HARTRUMs that moved
to Ancaster, Ontario in 1793 from New Germantown. I'm told that these
surnames do appear in the Zion Church records but unfortunately not with
the given names that I need to find. :-(
Hope this helps, -- Dave
David Naylor, Halton Hills, Ontario, Canada. <>
