The Reformed Church has not gone out of existence--never did. I attend
one--the same as was in NJ in the early days--except we have some amenities
they didn't have then--like organs and pianos, etc.
The Reformed Church went a number of ways. Some of the units stayed together
as they moved west. Others joined in with the Presbyterian Church--which is
probably what you were thinking. Parts of the German Reformed Church united
with the Evangelical Church, but not until the 1950s. I was born and raised
in the First Reformed Church in Wilkes-Barre. Those that merged with the
Evangelical Church ultimately joined the Congregationalists and became the
UCC--United Church of Christ.
Reformed Churches still follow the original teachings of the Reformation--no
excuses, no adaptation for today's life. Calvin was a man of action and a
man of truth, a good example for any young child.
The Reformed Church remains a dynamic part of today's protestantism.
