Subject: [NJHUNTER] Unclear subject lines

Dear Rootsweb listers:

This is just a friendly reminder about subject lines. By the time some
messages end up at my house via Rootsweb, many characters have been added to
the front of the subject line of some emails. One came in to me today with
nothing but the first 6 letters of the subject's given name.

The rest of the subject was important to the content of the email. Please
remember to put your most important subject information first, i.e.
surnames, to entice people to read your query/comment.

Also, please repeat all subject information in the body of the email. The
above-mentioned posting didn't give a possible surname until the 4th line in
the body of the email. I've seen emails from lots of people without vital
surnames, dates or places in the body, but hidden offscreen in the subject
line. I get 50-100 emails a day, and therefore delete those whose key info
I can't figure out after a second or two.

Cheers, and thanks so much for supporting Rootsweb.
