The Genealogical Magazine of New Jersey has published the tombstone
inscriptions for both of these Baptist cemeteries in Kingwood Township. The
correct reference is "Hunterdon County Gravestones: Two Baptist Cemeteries
at Baptistown," GMNJ, Vol. 56, 1981, pp. 99-106. The old cemetery is in
very poor condition with many stones broken or indecipherable. It is
located next to the Baptistown post office on Rt. 519 a few hundred yards
from the traffic light in the center of Baptistown. The old church was
located there before relocating to the other side of Route 519 down the
road abit where the newer cemetery is located.
There are no Dilts surnames in either list. The only Fisher names are
Dinah, wife of Henry Fisher who died Sept 30, 1845 aged 50 yrs, 9 mos, 12
days, and Amy Fisher, dau of Robert S. and Catharine E. Fisher who died
July 7, 1861 age 18 days.
