Not an easy question. Mercer County was formed 22 Feb. 1838 and included
part of Hopewell Twp.; 14 Feb. 1839 the rest of Hopewell Twp. was added; 13
Mar. 1844 Hopewell Twp. was restored to Hunterdon; 5 Feb. 1845 Hopewell
Twp. was returned to Mercer County.
