Thanks! Very interesting information! Do you happen to know where this
graveyard is located .......relative to Hopewell or other known sites in
the county?
<
Lower Amwell Grave Yard. Located 1 mile from Sandbrook, Delaware Twp.,
Hunterdon County.
On a good map that shows all the back roads. From Hopewell you will go
north on
Rt. 569 to Rt. 514 Spur, which will bring you just south of Flemington.
Turn to the left and follow the signs for Rt. 12. Looks like three traffic
circles,
but only remember one.
Sergeantsville-Flemington Road (RT. 523) will join in at one of the
circles.
Take that road south west to Sandbrook-Headquarters Road. Go South
to Dunkard Church Road.
Take a right and enjoy the scenery.
Drive slow, it's a narrow road.
Once you pass the house on the curve, and go over the little-bitty stone
bridge.
You will pass Sand Brook Church on the left about a mile up the road.
About 1 mile further up the road, Amwell Brethren will be a white building.
Pull into the parking lot, there is a cemetery to the left of the church
and
the other is across the way to the right of the church.
First time to Hunterdon Co., in 1990, didn't have a map, had no idea
where we were going, but found the church real easily, then back-
tracked to Flemington and the Court House.
My second time to Hunterdon in 1995, found this church and checked
out the rest of Delaware Twp. from that point -- didn't find all I was in
need of but have never had problems finding this church.
Am posting this to the board with subject change, in case somebody has
a simpler way.
Also you have two person's searching for Parkes, et el on the mailing list.
