Subject: [NJHUNTER] 1865 NJ census?
Date: Tue, 9 May 2000 15:44:07 +1000
Can anyone tell me whether there was an 1865 NJ state census? Is it
available through LDS Family History Centres?
I am desperate to find Thomas HARRITY, described as "of Hunterdon County,
N.J." on 20 November 1866 in his sister Susannah DEVER's Claim for Increase
of Widow's Pension.
I cannot find him anywhere. I believe that years ago I checked for him in
Lambertville, Hunterdon Co. in the 1860 and 1870 federal censuses, to no
avail. Does anyone have access to an index for the 1860 or 1870 federal
census for New Jersey? Does he appear anywhere else in Hunterdon Co.?
This is a 16-year brick wall for me, and I am bloodying my fists trying to
punch it down.
Thanks ever so much to anyone who can answer any of the above questions
for me.
