Subject: [NJHUNTER] Which OXLEY was sheriff?
Date: Mon, 12 Jun 2000 21:37:38 -0400

According to information I have, a Henry OXLEY bought land in Crosswick N.J.
from Benjamin Field by indenture in 1701. This may be the father of our
Henry OXLEY born in 1699 and married Mary EVERIT in 1721/22. I have been
told that a Henry OXLEY was a sheriff in the Hopewell area around 1720 or
1722. How would I go about determining which of these two Henry OXLEYs was
possibly a sheriff? Would it be likely that a 21 year old would be a
sheriff? Much of the OXLEY information from these early years could be
attributed to either of these two men. Help! I have no clue where to turn
next.

Thanks for any and all suggestions and help. I am lost.
