The Jerseyman, Vol. 2, No. 1, March 1893, p. 1-3
"Colonial Naturalization List. By Henry Race, M.D.
-compiled from Allinson's Acts of the General
Assembly. "By the Act of Assembly of April 4th, 1709,
ownership of one hunred acres of land or a personal
estate of fifty pounds was made requisite for the
right to vote for public officers. This left but
little motive for needy settlers to acquire a
citizenship which, to them, would have been a mere
pretentious nullity.
Schiller/Schuyler/Schuiler: is not in the listings
from March 11, 1713-14 to September 26, 1772.
However, 3 Jun 1763 lists one Johannes HEYLER.
[I was looking at this for a possible
John NEYLER/NAYLOR, which hasn't been found].
FHL #0913176, "Index to Naturlization, 1700's -
1800's".
This is a card index which for one of my names:
Name From
Date to Council
Date to House
Date Assent
Laws 1703-1731, p.~~ - Chap.
Son of ~~ & Brother of ~~, born ~~
Allison's Laws, p. ~~
I believe this material is part of the Bureau of
History & Archives, New Jersey State Library,
Trenton, NJ -- which is closed in 2000 for 'moving.'
