Subject: [NJHUNTER] Help!
Date: Thu, 12 Oct 2000 17:50:43 EDT

Dear Listers,

Please note that I ran this query back in January on the website for
Hunterdon County, NJ. To date I have heard nothing, however, my e-mail
address has changed. I'd appreciate any help anyone could give me on this
one.

My Great Grandmother was in an institution in Hunterdon County (I think), and
I'd appreciate any help in identifying (name and address) of such a place.
My grandfather who might have been able to shed some light on this died just
a little
month after I was born so have had no inkling of identifying the institution.
My mother said that she remembered her mother sayting that Klara Kovacs
Oppitz went crazy. Does anyone know what insane asylum is in Hunterdon
County or near?

Submitted query in January 2000:

OPPITZ
Trying to locate death date for Klara Kovacs OPPITZ of Hunterdon County. She
is listed on the 1900 US Census, Union Township, Dwelling #171, Family #181.
Born January 1847, Austria (Kaschau, Hungary). She is listed with 2 sons,
Louis Kossuth (May 29, 1877-July 18, 1938, Lebanon, St. Clair County,
Illinois) and William (March 1887). Louis is listed as a school teacher
(probably near or in Pattenburg, NJ). Klara Kovacs Oppitz is listed as a
Widow, and I know that she was alive when my grandparents Louis K. Oppitz and
Nell Griswold were married in June 6, 1905, Lebanon, Warren County, Ohio. The
story is that Klara Kovacs Oppitz died in an institution of some sort in
Hunterdon County. Please provide any information possible.

Thank you,

Contact: Ruth
