Hi Group,
I am posting this record of names abstracted from " Souvenir Record of
Wertsville School. The booklet was found in the home of Phyllis Stryker
Fisher, and is being provided to us by her daughter Barbara Fisher Kopels.
The booklet contains the names of the Teachers and students enrolled. The
number following some of the students names, I guess refers to the year
they were scheduled to complete their schooling. I may be wrong and will
gladly accept another explanation. Here we go:

" History of the School"
"The first school of logs 20' x 24 ' was built in 1747 on land leased for
99 years; from Benjamin Stout, near the old Church building. In 1798 it was
rebuilt a frame structure and in 1846, the lease having expired, the
building was moved across the road on land owned by the heirs of William
Wert, where school was held until in 1853 the present school was erected."

I will send the Teachers List first than the Students, I will try to post
one a day. I'll try.
