Greetings,

Well it has finally happened. I now believe I have Smith ancestors ;( I'm
looking for information on the Smith family of Readington TWP. Specifically,
Ann Elizabeth Smith, bc 1840 was married to Jacob K Lewis in Oct 1862. They
lived in Readington TWP. He was the son of Samuel Lewis and Eleanor Layton.
Ann and Jacob's daughter Ella Lewis (1864-1925) was born in Whitehouse and
was married to Orie Thorpe. Ella and Orie are my GG grandparents. Ann
Elizabeth Smith was the daughter of a Samuel Smith who was probably born
about 1810 in or near Stanton. Chambers in his 'Early Germans of NJ'
discusses the Smith family of Readington in some detail but he stops a
generation or so short of Samuel. Thanks in advance for the help.
