Subject: [NJHUNTER] Carpenter, Coe, and Dun

Dear Hunterdon Co. Folks,
I am trying to find the parents of Moses Carpenter, b. about 1750, maybe
Jamaica, NY. He is reported to be the son of John Carpenter and Ruth Coe of
Jamaica - I cannot find any proof of this. He married Elizabeth Runyon, dau
of Richard and Anne (VanCourt) Runyon who were apparently living in Morris
Co. NY about 1774 when they would have married.
Moses Carpenter and many others were in Ora ge Co. NY in the early 1770s
where his daughter was baptized in the Goshen Pres. Church in 1774.
The reason that I am looking in Hunterdon Co. is because I know there were
Carpenters there earlier and
because Moses Carpenter was the exec. of the will of one PHINEAS DUN (of
Orange Co. NY) in about 1780. Phineas Dun named his wife Anne and daughters:
Elizabeth and Zerviah in his will.
I have read someplace that Phineas Dun was from Hunterdon Co. NJ.
Any help would certainly be greatly appreciated. P.S. in my grandmother's
pictures is a large charcoal with the label, "A Dun," a picture of a young
lady.
Thank you so much
Phoebe in CA
