Subject: [NJHUNTER] Another use for the word "alias"

Although apparently seldom used in this context, there are some early land
records which include the term "alias" in the chain of ownership. The deed
might read "John Doe alias James Smith" and does not mean John Doe was also
called James Smith but that the previous owner was the second named person.
The Latin meaning for "alias" in my dictionary is "at another time". Judy
