Subject: [NJHUNTER] Mail Viruses

There are a couple of viruses running around the Rootsweb mail lists of
which NJHUNTER is one of them. In general, rootsweb will not allow an
attachment to a message so you should not receive a virus directly from
NJHUNTER. There are a few general rules you should follow when receiving
mail and attachments:

1. Run a virus proctection program (eg., Norton or McAfee) to detect and
remove viruses as they are received.

2. NEVER open an attachment to a mail message unless you know who sent
you the attachment AND you were expecting it. Many viruses grab onto
the address list of the infected computer and transmit themselves from a
known computer. Make sure you know what the attachment is before you
attempt to open it.

3. Messages that start out "Here's the information you asked for" or
"I Love You" are known viruses. Delete them immediately.

4. Unless you are into Visual Basic, never open a message with the
extension .vbs It is an executable program just like .exe Don't be
fooled with something.vbs.txt That is not a text file but a vbs
file. The first three letters after the first dot are what count.

5. If you use Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express, you are
particularly vunerable. Check you address list and run your virus
protection software to make sure your computer is clean.

Remember, you cannot receive a virus directly from this mail list, but
you can receive a virus directly from an infected computer that is
subscribed to this mail list.
