Greetings,

According to Chamber's 'Early Germans of NJ', Johannes Heinrich Schmidt
emigrated in about 1743 (from Holland or Germany?) and eventually settled
near Stanton in Readington TWP where he married Christina Hassel. I suspect
that my GGGG GF Samuel E Smith (c1810-?) may be a descendant of Johannes.
Samuel was a farmer in Clinton and Franklin TWPs during the mid 19th century
according to census information. His daughter Ann Elizabeth Smith (my GGG
GM) was married to Jacob K Lewis at the Stanton Reformed Church in 1862. I
was wondering if anyone had any information on the descendants of Johannes
(aka John Henry Smith). I know one son removed to the Pottersville area and
the 'Smith Family Reunion' was held there for many years but I don't think my
Samuel was of this direct line.

Thanks in advance,

Rick Novak
