Greetings,
Many thanks to Bruce Sinclair for transcribing cemetery listings from
the records of the Genealogical Society of New Jersey, and making them
available on line!
I have a question about the Mount Pleasant Cemetery records of
Alexandria Township. Could someone please indicate the date of the
original records transcribed by Mr. Sinclair? The reason I ask is
that Mt. Pleasant Cemetery is still active. I have a copy of the
original interment register, and a list of headstone inscriptions that
I compiled on my own directly from the cemetery. As I figure, there
are now over 2,500 burials at this place. Much of what I gathered
will not be found in existing sources, as many interments took place
after the publication date of existing records.
I do not intend to disrespect the work of Mr. Sinclair. However, I
believe it would be very unfortunate for a researcher to assume that
their ancestor is NOT buried at Mt. Pleasant due to partial listing
not being noted as such.
Your feedback will be appreciated.
