Actually, Bruce, the opposite is true. Members of the Genealogical Society
of N J transcribed the "Old Section" of Alexandria Presbyterian Cemetery,
now Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, in the summer of 1962, and someone rearranged the
transcriptions in alphabetical order, typed them on 8.5 X 11 sheets of paper
and placed them in a folder at Special Collections at Rutgers University.
Someone else took this list and made up cards for the GSNJ card file of
tombstone transcriptions. Only half of the cemetery was transcribed, what
was determined to be the older section. Beverly McDonough transcribed
everything she could read and has a more up-to-date listing, encompassing
every tombstone, not just the older ones. There is a famous Hunterdon County
historian, Dr. Henry Race, who is buried in the newer section of the
cemetery although he died in 1900 or 1901. He is not on the GSNJ list.
