Sorry about the delay. I switched email providers and have a new address. Since
so many asked for details of her obit I'm putting an abstract to the Hunterdon
list.

The funeral of Mrs. Matilda Lake, 81 yrs old, widow of Nelson Lake, was held Sat
morning (April 3, 1917) at her house at Whitehouse Station. Burial was in the
cemetery of the Methodist Church at Lebanon. Mrs. Lake died of heart disease
March 31, 1917. She was born at Bissell and was a daughter of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Asa Tiger. She had resided there until 15 yrs ago when her husband died and
she moved to Whitehouse Station to be with her daughter. Survivors include her
daughters, Mrs. J. Runkle Alpaugh of Whitehouse Station, Mrs. Silas W. Eick
(Selinda Lake) of Annandale and Mrs. S. J. Hoffman of Gladstone; a son Asa W.
Lake of Shelbina, Mo; a sister, Mrs. Selinda Reed, of New Germantown, and a
brother, Nathan L. Tiger, of Morrisville, Pa. [Hunterdon Co Democrat, April 4,
1917, p. 5.]
