Subject: [NJHUNTER] GOOD NEWS! John LANCE and Circumstantial evidence
Date: Tue, 20 Mar 2001 19:28:31 EST

I just hit the jackpot!!

Here is what I know:
(What I am looking for at the bottom)

I have just read the will for John LANCE (LANTS, ect.)1776 - 1856. There is
very strong circumstantial evidence that links John as father WILLIAM LANCE b
1820 probably Walnut Valley, NJ d unknown date likely in or near Scranton, PA.

John is one of the two sons listed for ANTHONY LANCE b about 1750 died before
1835, married to Mary of unknown last name. Anthony's father was Hans Peter b
1708 in Germany, and married to Anna Margaret.

I'm looking for at least two things.
1. I am looking for a death record. will or probate, for William Lance, born
about 1820 NJ and son of John. The date of death should be between 1870 and
1910. The records will most likely will be in Eastern Pennsylvania near
Nicholson, PA (Wyoming County) or in or near Scranton, ( Lackawanna County.

The alternate place of death is in Warren County, NJ somewhere near
Blairstown, NJ.

2. A record of William's wife. William was married about 1851 to Scharlet
Brown who died in Walnut Valley or Blairstown, NJ between 1860 and the
Federal Census of 1870. So far no marriage or death record of her can be
found.

3. William's father and brothers were wheelwrights. I suspect they learned
this from either the APGAR or ALPAUGH people. If they did not learn the trade
from those familles it then likely was passed from an ancestor in Germany.
Looking for clues on this.

4. Anthony Lance, b abt 1750 husband of Mary is recorded as having only two
children, I suspect more. Looking for evidence of Jacob and others not listed.

Thanks ALL. It's been a tough 10 year search. More to go and more to learn
but it's a thrill to find this much.
Laurence Lance - the only apparent surviving descendant of Anthony LANCE.
