Is anyone researching the family of James WILLSON born 1769 in NJ and/or his
descendents? He was a Quaker and married to Rachel ??

My ggg gf William WILSON was born in 1790 or 91 and his death record in
Oakland Co., MI shows that his parents were James WILSON and Rachel, both
born NJ. Census records show that William was born in NJ.

William married in 1815 (in NJ to the best of my knowledge), the he and his
wife Anna HOAG moved to somewhere in NY state. They remained in NY until
1838 and their first nine children were born there. In 1838 they moved to
Springfield Twp., Oakland Co. Michigan, and remained on the same farm there
until their deaths in 1878 and 1881 respectively.

All of their children also made the move to Michigan. The children were:
James S. WILSON, Rachel Wilson SMITH, William Webster WILSON (aka Webster
WILSON), Mary Wilson GOULD, Daniel WILSON, John C. WILSON, Jane Wilson ROHM,
Newman C. WILSON, Anna Martha Wilson KINNEY, Isaac WILSON, and Harriet
Wilson PERCY.

Other than the names James Wilson and Rachel as the parents of William, I
have nothing except the knowledge that William and Anna Hoag Wilson were
strict Quakers which I learned from a short family history written by their
great grandson in 1934. The name Wilson is normally found spelled with one
'L' in Michigan, but sometimes with 2 'L's'. I suspect that it could have
been two 'L's' prior to there move to NY or Michigan.

Please help if you think you know anything about this family or can point me
in the right direction. I really want to attach William to the correct
James and Rachel Wilson.

Many thanks,
Bonnie Menzer Barnes
