Does a location called Acquacan ack in East Jersey sound familiar to
anyone?

The Bowlby family was all over the place (in terms of "sides" during the
revolution...)

A transcription of "The Deposition and Losses of John Bowlby" from the
PRO in England indicates John "embraced the first opportunity of joining
the British Troops, which was on the 5th January 1777 at a Place called
Acquacan ack in East Jersey"

I'm trying to figure out where that was, and how close it was to
Pequanock, where I understand another cousin, Charles Bowlsby, signed up
with the British on that same day... I'm afraid I am quite novice
regarding the geography of the area, but suspect I'll be gaining some
more experience shortly...

Thank you!
