Mr. and Mrs. Howard Drinkwater and daughter Nancy have returned from a trip
through the New England states.
Wayne Calio, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Calio, celebrated his fourth birthday
with a small family party at his home Saturday night, Sept. 10.
Mrs. Marie Anastasia of Peekskill, N.Y. is seriously ill at the home of her
son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. A. Calio.
Mrs. Arthur Voorhees, Sr., is confined t her home with illness.
Mr. and Mrs. George McPherson and Mr. and Mrs. Peter McPherson, and their
families of South Bound Brook, visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Peterson.
Edward Housel has concluded a visit with his son and daughter-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Andrew Housel of Neshanic.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph S. Carman were guests Saturday night of Olof Johnson of
Far Hills.
Mr. and Mrs. Hans Coebler left Friday night for a five day trip to
Cleveland, Ohio. Their daughters, Betty Ann and Karen, will spend the time
with Mrs. Coebler's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Newton Bray, of Readington Road.
Mr. and Mrs. Willard Petty of Chicago are visiting Mr. Petty's uncle,
Martin Engle.
Miss Cora Opdyke held the winning ticket for a blanket given Saturday in a
donation ticket drawing sponsored by the Children of Mary Sodality of Our
Lady of Lourdes Church.
Mr. and Mrs. James Roach of Whithouse Station are the parents of a son born
Thursday, Sept. 8, at Somerset Hospital.
Top Sergeant and Mrs. George T. Wilson have arrived in this country from
Japan where he has been stationed for the pat two and one half years with
the United States Army. After a three-week furlough to be spent visiting
relatives and friends in this area, Sgt. Wilson will be assigned to Fort
Riley, Kansas. Mrs. Wilson, the former Miss Dorothy Hulsizer of Clinton,
is the granddaughter of Mrs. William Buck of Whitehouse.
Mrs. Ida Bonnell entertained the following at luncheon Saturday at her
home: Miss Grace G. Sturcken and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Dickson of Jersey
City; Mrs. Max Krus of Haledon; Mrs. Ernest Dunstan of Ocean City; Mrs.
Ulmer Burkard of Sourth Amboy; Mrs. Robert Maltbie Westfield; and Mr. and
Mrs. Clarence Stevens of Maplewood.
Miss Mabel Piatt and Mrs. Hazel Hulzhiser of Easton, PA visited Mr. and
Mrs. Herbert Y. Piatt over the weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter W. Lance, Jr., are the parents of a daughter weighing 8
lbs. 5 oz. born at Somerset Hospital Monday morning Sept. 12. The infant
has been named Sandra Jane Lance. Mrs. Lance is the former Miss Shirley
Voorhees, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Voorhees of Whitehouse Station.
Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Boyle were hosts Monday night to the Whitehouse A.A.
in whose honor a party was given at the Shandon Bells.
Mr.and Mrs. Fred Braun of Westfield were guests for several days of Mr. and
Mrs. James Blair and family.
Miss Florence M. Sexton of Brooklyn is the house guest of Mrs. Ida Bonnell
and Mrs. Bonnell's mother Mrs. F. W. Lindsley.
Mr and Mrs. James O'Neill of East Orange, were guests Saturday of Mr. and
Mrs. Edward Higgins.

LEBANON

Mr and Mrs. Holt F. Ramsey observed Thursday the 32nd anniversary of their
marriage.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Housel of MacPherson's Mills entertained the Young
Adult Group of the Clinton Methodist church at the birthday party Friday
evening in their home.
After a six week visit here with his son, Harry Stryker of Brunswick Avenue
and other local relatives, former Mayor John C. Stryker departed Wednesday
for his home in Los Angles.
Mrs. Edward Maas of Old Mountain Road spent last week with relatives in
Syracuse, N.Y.
A daughter was born Friday, Sept. 2nd at Somerset Hospital to Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph Kenny of Lebanon.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hemke of Flower Dale observed Wednesday the 36th
anniversary of their wedding. The former Miss Isabel Johnson, Mrs. Hemke
is a daughter of the late Clifford and Josephine Johnson of Lebanon. The
couple has one daughter , Mr.s Arthur Lee Alexander of Creedmore, North
Carolina.
Mr. and Mrs. Leon Weis of Allentown, PA have been visiting their son-in-law
and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Preston W. Miller of High Street. Mrs. Florence
Crumbly, also of Allentown, who has been spending two weeks with her nephew
and niece, returned to her home with the Weis family.
A son born recently to Mr. and Mrs. Chester O. Johnson of Round Valley in
Somerset Hospital Somerville, has been named James Edward Johnson. Mrs.
Johnson is the former Miss Helen Condron, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John
Condron of Jersey City.
Miss Virginia A. Henry, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George L. henry who left
the states in March for an extended tour of Europe has now accepted a
position with the American Occupation Forces in Germany. As assistant
manager of the Nuremberg Post Exchange, she is located in Nuremberg and has
charge of the women's clothing store there.
Miss Charlotte Black, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Black Jr., has been
admitted as a member of the freshman class at New Jersey College for Women,
Rutgers University. The current college session begins Sept. 15. Miss
Black is a graduate of Flemington High School.
A daughter born Wednesday to Mr. and Mrs. Clarence N. Pickell in Somerset
Hospital, Somerville weighted 7 1/2 pounds and has been named Dorothy Jane
Pickell. Mrs. Pickell is the former Miss Dorothy Mitchell of
Princeton. Her husband is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore R. Apgar. Of Lebanon.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter S. Alpaugh and son, Clyde, of Cherry Street, are on a
five day trip to Canada.
The Past Noble Grand's Club of Lebanon Rebekah Lodge was entertained at a
lawn party Saturday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Emmett L. Lindabury at
Rockaway Grove.
Mrs. F. K. Shafer visited Saturday with her cousin, Mrs. Ida V. Alpaugh in
Pottersville.
Mrs. And Mrs. George H. Creitz, of Brunswick avenue left Saturday for a two
week visit with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. F. Edsal Riley
3rd in Dover N.H.
Mrs Shirley Brunt served as a bridesmaid at the wedding Saturday of Miss
Georgiana Negoescu of Jutland to Anthony Stacklet of Wilkes-Barre, PA
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bartles of Main Street and Mr. and Mrs. William D. Sole
of Maple Street are spending a few days in Atlantic City.
