Hello again everyone. I have my grandfather's book "Charter of Lambertville"
published in 1895. Here is section 1 from the original charter in April 1849
I thought you might enjoy seeing how this little town got started.

1. Be It enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New
Jersey, That all that part of the township of West Amwell, contained within
the following limits, to wit, beginning at low-water mark in the river
Delaware, at the corner of the Prime Hope mill tract, being the corner
between said tract and land of John Coryell: thence on the line between said
lands north, eighty-seven degrees east, eighteen chains, to a corner; thence
north, four chains and sixty links, to a corner of the lands of the estate of
Dr. John Wilson, deceased; thenceby the same north, eight degrees west,
eleven chains and seventy five links; thence northeasterly to the southwest
corner of the Abraham G. Coryell tract (now owned by John Coryell Esq.)
thence by the same north, seventy five and a half degrees east, twenty chains
and fifty links, to a corner; thence north, three and a half degrees east,
along the same tract, thirteen chains and twenty -eight links, to a corner of
John Holcombe's lot; thence north, twenty-two and a half degrees west, in a
straight line to the middle of the Alexsockin creek; thence, down the same,
to the Delaware River; thence down the same ( including Holcombe's Island),
to the place of beginning, shall be, and hereby is erected into a borough or
town corporate, which shall be called and known by the name of "The Town of
Lambertville;" and the inhabitants thereof shall be and hereby are
incorporated by the name of " The Inhabitants of the Town of Lambertville:and
by that name they and their successors forever shall and may have perpetual
succession, and shall be persons in law capable of suing and being sued,
pleading and being impleaded, answering and being answered unto, defendingand
being defended, in all manner of actions, suits complaints, matters and
causes whatever; may have a corporate seal, and alter the same at their
pleasure; and may by their corporate name aforesaid, purchase, receive, hold
and convey any estate, real or personal, for the public use of said
corporation.

There are a total of 23 parts to the original charter approved March 1, 1849.
