Mrs. Anna E. Lang wife of Plant Lang, of Route 22, Lebanon died Saturday
(Sept. 20, 1969) in Andover Nursing Home, where she had been a patient six
weeks. She was 74 years old. Mrs. Lang had not been well for some
time. She was born in White Plains New York, but lived in East Orange most
of her life. She and her husband moved to Lebanon 18 years ago. Mrs.
Lang was a member of Allerton Methodist Church Women's Society for
Christian Service. Although Mrs. Lang's health did not permit her to
participate in civic affairs in the last few years, she was keenly aware of
current events and kept up with the political, and social and economic
developments in the county and state. Her granddaughter Dorothy Clowers
Liets, was named queen of Lebanon Fourth of July parade several years
ago. Surviving in addition to her husband, are a son, James, Montclair;
two daughter, Mrs. Lee Clowers, who also resided at the Lebanon address,
and Mrs. Gladys Brooks, East Orange; also five grandchildren, including
Mrs. Dorothy Liets, Indianapolis, Indiana and Amy and Barbara Clowers, both
now living in Newark, and five great grand children.

Miss Maude Lohrey - Funeral services for Miss Maude Lohrey of Croton, who
died Saturday (Sept. 20, 1969) were held Tuesday in Holcombe-Fisher Funeral
Home, Flemington. The Rev. Bruce Opsahl, pastor of St. Paul Lutheran
Church, Flemington, officiated. Interment was in St. Michael's Cemetery,
Astoria Long Island. Miss Lohrey was born in New York City, a daughter of
the late George H. and Margaret Keiser Lohrey. She move to Hunterdon
County in 1950. She was 75 years old. Surviving is one brother, Herman
Lohrey, of the Croton address.

(All I can get is a few lines) Mrs. Grace Swayze Cory of Indian Trail,
Lake Mohawk, a former Glen Gardner resident, died Saturday, (Sept. 20,
1969) in Andover Nursing Home where she had been a patient three
weeks. She was 91 years old. She was born in GlenÂ…. (that is all I could
get.)

Arthur D. Voorhees Sr. - of Railroad Avenue, Whitehouse Station, a retired
car inspector for the Central Railroad of New Jersey died Monday (Sept. 22,
1969) in Hunterdon Medical Center, Flemington, where he had been a patient
one week. He was 85 years old. Born in Pottersville, a son of the late
Garret S. and Eudora Rhinesmith Voorhees. ( I can't read any more)

Earl Pickel - Prominent Bloomsbury businessman, Earl D. H. Pickel of 22
Center Street, died Thursday (Sept. 18, 1969) in Warren Hospital,
Phillipsburg. He was 66 years old and had been ill for nine months. Mr.
Pickel was a former councilman and mayor of Bloomsbury and was president of
the J.S. Pickel hardware, farm machinery and appliance business form many
years. He served as councilman for several terms before becoming mayor in
1946. He later was Bloomsbury welfare director until his retirement in
July. He was also a member of the Hunterdon County shade tree
commission. Mr. Pickel was born in Bethlehem Township, a son of the late
John S. and Vesta Reiss Pickel. He attended Hampton High School and
Churchman Business College in Easton, PA. Prior to entering the J.S.
Pickel business he was a general insurance agent. Mr. Pickel was a member
of the Bloomsbury Methodist Church and was secretary of its church school
for many years. He was a member and past master of Bethlehem Lodge No. 140
F & AM; a member of Easton Forest 35, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, and a member
of Bloomsbury Fire Company. Surviving are his widow Mrs. Marian Shrope
Pickel, a son, E. Douglas of Bloomsbury; a brother John C. of Philadelphia
and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday from the Rush
Funeral Home, Bloomsbury, in Bloomsbury United Methodist Church. Rev.
Forrest Shue pastor of the Bloomsbury United Methodist Church, officiated
and interment was in Bloomsbury Cemetery.

Peter C. Pickell, 59 years old, died on Friday morning at his residence
near Oldwick, after an illness of almost 10 days from neuro-pneumonia
(sp). He was a prosperous farmer and had resided there nearly all his
life. He was a member of the Methodist Church at Oldwick. Besides his
widow, he leaves a daughter Mrs. Charles W. Craig of Somerville. Another
daughter, Mrs. Russell Conover of Bissell died there of the same disease
several months ago. He also leaves a sister, Miss Frances Pickell of East
Whitehouse, an two brothers, George and Byron Pickell also of that
place. The funeral was held on Monday Morning at the home. Rev. Wm. E.
Compton (?) officiated and interment was at Oldwick by undertaker J.
Charles Alpaugh of Oldwick. (Hunterdon Co. Microfilm copy was very had to

** Galloupe - Hankinson - Miss Mary Atkinson Hankinson, only daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. John Hankinson, of Pennsylvania Avenue, was married on
Wednesday afternoon last to Mr. Howard Clark Galloupe, of Boston,
Mass. The wedding was a quiet one, only the immediate friends of the
contracting parties being present, though the bride was remembered by her
many friends in the matter of handsome presents. The groom will be
remembered by many who met him while working here a few years ago I
literary work for the Chapman Publishing Co. of Chicago, with whom he is
still connected and for whom he is now doing similar work in Illinois. The
bride is one of Flemington's most popular and highly respected young
ladies, and many will united in wishing the happy couple much joy in their
new home wherever it may be. After a short trip on which they stared at
3:55 pm via the Pennsylvania Railroad, they will return to Flemington where
they will stay a short time before starting for Illinois.
