I went to NJ this summer and had incredible good fortune. Here are a few of
the best places:
1. Rutgers Alexander Library, New Brunswick... has a cemetery collection
and family bibles, as well as D.A.R. records etc.
2. NJ State Archives. Most of the indexes are available on-line, so I did
my research before I went and was able to pull my records in very little
time. The State Library is adjacent to the ARchives and has a good
genealogy section.
3. County and local libraries have "local genealogy" sections, many with
vertical files full of clippings and related articles on local families.
4. NJ State Historical Society, Park Avenue, Newark has a good genealogy
library. Their collection is not as extensive, but I found a great deal
there.
5. Virginia Alleman Brown Library at Shippen Manor in Oxford Furnace.
Warren County. Mrs. Brown is a professional genealogist, and her files are
in the library, containing many decades of research.... I found my family
there also.
Good Hunting!
