Obituaries

John P. Cronce, for many years a farmer in the Lambertville vicinity, died
Friday morning, Jan. 17, 1930, in St. Francis Hospital, Trenton, after a
short illness. He was 79 years of age. He is survived by a son, William
Cronce, of Lambertville, and a daughter Mrs. Mary Schomp of Trenton.
Funeral services were held Monday morning from the home of William Everitt,
near Lambertville, with Rev. Victor M. Patterson officiating. Interment
was in Harbourton Cemetery.

John McDermott, died at his home in Lambertville, Thursday Evening, Jan.
16, 1930, at 79 years of age. He was a retired coal dealer. A brother and
two sisters survive Thomas, McDermott and Mrs. Margaret E. Moonan, of
Lambertville, and Mrs. Charles Clechaus, of Mt. Vernon, New York. Requiem
High Mass from St. John's R.C. Church followed services from his late home
Monday morning. Interment was in St. John's Cemetery.

Helen Pickel, eleven years old, died Saturday night, Jan. 18, 1930, at
11:30 o'clock, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Pickel, in
Annandale. She was their only child. The funeral will be held this
(Thursday) afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home of her parents and will be
conducted by Rev. Chester A. Moore, pastor of the Annandale Reformed
Church. Interment will be at Cokesbury.

Mrs. Sarah R. Shafer, The funeral of Mrs. Sarah R. Shafer, wife of John W.
Shafer, was held from her late home near Baptistown, on Sunday afternoon at
2 o'clock. Interment was made in the Milford Union Cemetery. The
deceased, who was a former resident of Milford, died suddenly Wednesday
night, Jan. 15, 1930.

William Todd's Are Married 54 Years - Wedded in 1884 at Peapack-Gladstone.
Mr. and Mrs. William Todd Thursday observed the 54th anniversary of their
wedding. Mr. and Mrs. Todd lived in Lebanon for more than 20 years, moving
to Whitehouse about a year ago. Mr. Todd is a son of the late Mr. and Mrs.
James Todd, Bedminster. He has two brothers, Garret Todd, of Chester and
John Todd of Lebanon. Mrs. Todd was formerly Miss Ella Wood a daughter of
the late Mr. and Mrs. James Wood, of Peapack-Gladstone. The couple was
married December 29, 1884 in Peapack-Gladstone, by the late Rev. George
Bloom. They have three children, Mrs. Lewis Giordana, Mrs. John Todd, High
Bridge and Clarence Todd, Maplewood. They also have five
grandchildren. Both Mr. and Mrs. Todd are active and Mrs. Todd attends the
meetings of the Lebanon church organization with which she is connected

George H. Reitze Retires from Business
George H, Reitze, who has conducted a confectionery and tabacco store in
Whitehouse Station for a number of years, has retired from business. Mr.
Reitze has always conducted a well-stocked store and kept his property in
perfect condition and been rewarded with sufficient to retire from his
labors. The store is closed and he will dispose of the business and
property at his first opportunity.

Gideon E. Williamson
Gideon E. Williamson, eighty-eight years old, died on Thursday at West palm
Beach, Florida, from a complication of diseases. Mr. Williamson was ill
when he left his home at Ocean rove in October and rapidly declined in
health. Mr. Williamson was a resident of this vicinity for many years,
having owned and conducted what is now the Orgen farm south of Whitehouse
Station. He is survived by his wife. Funeral services will be held on
Thursday at West palm Beach, Florida and interment will be made in that
city in Woodlawn Cemetery.



Dorothy Smith Engaged
Mr. and Mrs. James Armstrong Smith of Bedminster announce the engagement of
their daughter, Miss Dorothy Armstrong Smith to John Edgar Everett, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur R. Everett of South Branch. The engagement was
announced at a Christmas dinner party given at the Smith home. Miss Smith
is a graduate of Somerville high School and Drake's Business College. Mr.
Everett attended Somerville High School.

Engagement Announced
Mr. and Mrs. Willard L. Pickell, near Whitehouse, announced the engagement
of their daughter, Miss Pauline F. Pickell, to Clifford C. Nonamaker,
Edict, N.Y., son of Mrs. Mattie Nonamaker, Lebanon N.J., at a dinner party
at the Clara Louise Tearoom, Christmas Eve. No date has been set for the
wedding.

tonight.

Bloomfield.
Mr. and Mrs. Don W. J. Pursell visited Sunday with Mrs. Marietta Quick in
North Branch.
Theodore Kaminski, of Bayonne visited the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Edward
Stochowich.
Mrs. Helen Cross and Frederick Abel of Westfiled have been visiting Mrs.
Jeanette Niece.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Maus of Brooklyn have been visiting Mr. and Mrs. William
L. Reger.
Mrs. Anna Munson of Morristown has concluded a visit with Mr. and Mrs.
Clarence Eick.
Mrs. Carrie Ryman has concluded a visit with her mother, Mrs. Mary Ramley
(Ransley?) Newark.
Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Amerman of Trenton were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Edward Housel.
Mr. an Mrs. Joseph Dooling of South Amboy visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs.
George Ekholm.
Mr. and Mrs. De Witt Studdiford visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. George
Danley in Flemington.
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Johnson of Centerville visited the weekend with Mr. and
Mrs. Fred Hoffman.
Rev. and Mrs. John R. Dirkson of Wallkill, N.Y. were guest on Wednesday of
Rev. and Mrs. H. F. Senne.
Henry Parsons of New York City visited the weekend and holiday with Mr. and
Mrs. Charles S. Eick.
Mr. and Mrs. Goeroge R. Layton of Bedminster, visited Sunday with his
parents Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Layton.
The Rev. and Mrs. Laroy Peterson spent Wednesday with their daughter, Mrs.
George Fernicola, Newark.
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Danley of Sergeantville have concluded a visit with Mr.
and Mrs. DeWitt Studdiford.
Mr. and Mrs. William C. Lance of Flemington, were guests of Mr. and Mrs.

Margaret and Ada Pursell in Plainfield.

Mr. and Mrs. Russell Yawger and children of Paterson, visited the holidays
with Mr. and Mrs. Warren R. Thompson.
Miss Dorothy Kennedy recently entertained the Misses Doris Baker and Allie
Zanette of Flemington and Evelyn Weiskuhn and Natilie Carey of Clinton.
Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Mott of Rockville Center and Miss Anne Bergen of New
Brunswick, were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Charles P. Oliver.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hall and the Misses Catherine and Margaret Hall of
Newark, were Sunday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Layton.
Mrs. C. A. Skillman and family were Sunday guests of Mrs. Peter Reger in
Raritan. The occasion was also in celebration of the birthday of Miss
Peggy Skillman.
A "Game Social" will be held in the Reformed Church hall on Friday evening,
January 13. Admission 25 cents. Refreshments will be served. Everybody
welcome.

The Quaint Old Town of Oldwick

Swick-Ward Engagement - At a Christmas dinner party Sunday, December 25,
Mrs. Eva Ward of Newark, announced the engagement of her daughter, Miss
Mary Alice Ward to Robert S. Swick, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert V. D. Swick,
of Oldwick. No date has been set for this marriage. Guests at the party
included Dr. and Mrs. Preston C. Piell and Mrs. Ida Mae Piell of Pittstown
