Hi,
I am trying to find out who Martin HOAGLAND (lived in Somerville) belongs
to. It seems he married a woman with the last name of Van Fleet. Also
Willet R. WIKOFF (lived New Brunswick) also married a Van Fleet. Is there
anyone out there who might know who they are? They are connected to the
Pickel family.
Thanks for any help you can give.

I checked the 2nd edition of the Wyckoff Family in America for Willet R.
Wikoff. He does not appear; however, there are a group of Hoaglands listed,
but not Martin.
When check Van Fleet, also look for deviant spellings such as Van Vliet when
doing your research. Wyckoff/Wicoff, Wycoff, etc. are also variant
spellings. Also check for Hoaglandt.
There is a 3rd edition out and you might want to check it or post a message
for someone who might have a copy to check it for these names in the various
Wyckoff lines. I found the Hoaglands under the Nicholas line of the
Wyckoffs. The name did not appear in any of the other Wyckoff lines.
You didn't state a time period, but the Hoaglands that appear in the Wyckoff
book are 1764 on down. The comment on the one individual, Christopher
Haogland, born December 22, 1764 at Griggstown, NJ died July 4, 1837, was
that this particular Hoagland family belonged to a Dutch family, the
descendants of Christopher Hoaglandt who came to New Amsteram before 1655.
He was the fourth Christopher in regular succession to occupy the farm at Six
Mile Run, NJ.
Don't know if this will help you in your research and making a connection to
the various names you are looking for, but perhaps you can tuck this piece of
evidence into your files for future reference and checking out.
