Sorry if this went through twice, I received an error message after I sent it.

Recently, I was on the Hunterdon County Cultural and Heritage Commission's website. There was a 3 part publication for local grammar school students. One of the articles mentioned a person involved in the Sons of Liberty before the Revolution.

Does anyone have more information concerning the Sons of Liberty in Hunterdon? The article specifically noted Bethlehem Township. My ancestor ADAM HOPE was elected to the rank of Captain in 1775 at a meeting at Bonnell's Tavern. I would think that this position, before troops were raised and without any prior military experience, might mean that he had some pre-war involvement in an organization such as the Sons of Liberty. I am therefore very interested in learning more about this secretive organization. I would appreciate any info concerning where to look for more information.

thanks.
