Still trying to sort out the three William Maxwells all in or about
Hunterdon Co Nj in the same time frame. Probably can elininate the
General for he presumably died unmarried and with no issue. However
info on the other two still eludes me. One was prominent lawyer in
Hunterdon Co in the early 1800's the other who I think is "my" William
was probably a farmer. I have a little additional info that might
provide a clue to someone working on this surname. David and John
Maxwell under 21 in 1818 were the children of John Maxwell decd in 18.
Apparently William and George were appointed guardians for these two.
Sara Ann, Naomi, Esther and Jane were alsochildren of John Maxwell decd
who were all under 14.. Their guardian was William Maxwell again who
was a brother of John decd. A Sarah Ann Maxwell married a George
Kuhuley, no date. No mention was found on John (Sr) wife so presumably
she died before John John presumably died abt 1818.. A John P B
Maxwell and an Anna Maria are listed as children of a George Maxwell
Esq. who died 26 Oct 1820 These two children were under 21 in 1820 No
mention of a wife of George. "My" William Maxwell married a Susanna and
they had Anna (my kin) Anna married George Dalrymple and their daughter
Susanna named for her grandmother married a William Henry Dils. Which
William became the guardian of John's children??Who were the parents of
William and John?? How was George Maxwell related??
