The other thing I don't like about genealogy.com, is that most of the hits
aren't relevant. If you put in George Holstein, it brings up every page
with both George and Holstein on it, they are not usually adjacent so the
hit is not relevant. I have had better luck with putting in the Surname and
instead of a first name I put in a location or a maiden name or allied name.
Also, the basic subscription does not seem to cover as much as it used to.
Many of the data bases are an additional fee.

I will have to say however, I have never found anything on ancestry.com and
the only significant lead from an online database came from genealogy.com.

Reading all the emails about Ancestry vs Genealogy.com on the Digeset #31, I
decided to look at Genealogy.com. I already am a member of Ancestry. I
only
use it when I'm doing American research and I haven't been doing that much
lately. I am able to go in and look up my roots here in America free and if
I want, I can go in with my password and pick up information about my
family.

I looked at Genealogy.com. I put in a name in my line that I know a lot
about. What came out was the name and a reference I should look at. When
I
pulled up the reference, I was told that I would have to pay a fee to look
at
it. Everything I tried to look at, I had to pay a fee? So where is the
free
stuff on this website?
