I'd like to add my two cents to these commentaries. I must agree that much
of the data on Ancestry has not been relevant to my research, however, the
gold mine on this site is the census. It's a little disconcerting that
Ancestry charges for this database separately from their regular site, but
at least you don't have to pay for both to get the census records. I just
let the regular site subscription lapse as it has been very little help.
Most of the info I found helpful, besides the census records is free, like
the SSA database. I have never used Genealogy.com so have no opinion about
its usefulness.
