Paul,
I am indexing the Hunterdon Gazette, a newspaper published at Flemington, N.J. It started in 1825 and continued to 1866. I have completed up to 1834. There was only one listing for Vanbuskirk or Van Buskirk during the 10 years indexed so far, and I have copied and pasted below.
Hunterdon Trivia!
In case you didn't know, Hunterdon County included, Trenton, Ewing, Pennington, and Hopewell Townships until the formation of Mercer County in 1838! The voting population of Amwell township which included, Flemington & Lambertville; all the Amwells, Raritan, and Delaware Townships was nearly the same as the combined voting population of those 4 townships that broke off!
Ah how time changes all!
>From the Gazette: No. 98. Wednesday, October 22, 1834.
Amwell: 1300; 4 southern townships: 1419; Total for Hunterdon: 5139
Trenton at 440, was less than Hopewell at 568!
Regards, MrBill
