Per Dutch naming traditions, each of the sons of Dirck-1 Jansen Van Sutphen
and Lysbeth Van Nuys of Flatbush, New York should have named their second
dau. Lysbeth or Elizabeth in honor of their mother; some of these sons
settled in Hunterdon Co., NJ. Who were the namesake Lysbeth/Elizabeth VAN
SUTPHEN granddaughters of Lysbeth (VAN NUYS) VAN SUTPHEN and what became of
each one of them?

2. John-2 Garrison Sr. (John-1) was born, probably in Amwell Township,
Hunterdon County, New Jersey, probably circa 1729, according to Berniece
Cowan. He was certainly born circa 1740 or earlier based on the fact that
his son, John-3 Garrison Jr. was married to Mary Barbar in 1780. John
married Elizabeth _____.
George, probable son of John-2 and Elizabeth (_____) Garrison, and his
wife, Mary (Johnston/Johnson) Garrison, named their first son John and their
second son Sutphin. Sutphin is obviously derived from the surname of
Sutphen and the Hunterdon County Sutphens were doubtless descendants of
Dirck-1 Jansen Van Sutphen and Lysbeth Van Nuys of Flatbush, New York. Was
Elizabeth (_____) Garrison a granddaughter or other descendant of Lysbeth
(Van Nuys) Van Sutphen?
